Connecting operations records a relationship between two operations while keeping both records separate. Each side is labeled with its role in the relationship—Dealer, Retailer, Consultant, or Customer—so the connection reads correctly from either operation’s profile.
Connecting is different from merging. Connecting keeps two distinct businesses separate and records how they relate; merging combines multiple entities that are really the same producer into one operation. See Merging Operations if the entities belong to the same producer.

Why connect operations?

Land data tells you who farms what. Connections tell you who they do business with—the part of an account that normally lives in a rep’s head or a spreadsheet.

Map a dealer's book of business

Connect a dealer to every producer they sell to. The dealer’s profile becomes a roster of their customers, and each producer’s profile shows who services them.

See who already has the account

Before you approach a producer, check their connections. If they’re already a customer of a competing retailer, you know what you’re up against.

Track influencers

Agronomists and independent consultants drive buying decisions without owning an acre. Connect a consultant to the operations they advise to see how much acreage their recommendations touch.

Plan territory coverage

Highlight an operation’s connections on the map to see the geographic spread of a dealer’s customers or a consultant’s accounts.
Once a connection exists, it shows up in three places: the Connected Operations panel when you click an operation on the map, the Connections tab of the operation profile, and the Connected Operations highlight, which plots every connected operation on the map and zooms to fit them.

Before you start

1

CamoAg Enterprise

Operation connections are a CamoAg Enterprise feature. Without Enterprise, the Connected Operations card on the operation profile prompts you to upgrade instead of listing connections.
2

The Create/Edit Operation Connections permission

Your user needs this permission to create, edit, or delete connections. If it’s turned off, you’ll see “Operation connections are turned off” in place of the panel. An organization admin can enable it in user settings.
3

Both operations saved to your organization

You can only connect operations your organization owns. Platform operations—the ones CamoAg provides—have to be saved to your organization first, and they won’t appear in the connection search until they are.

How to connect two operations

1

Find the operations on the map

Enable the Operation > Producers layer and click an operation. Click Save to Edit to the right of the name for each operation you want to connect.
2

Open Connected Operations

On the Operation panel, expand Connected Operations and click + Connect Operation. You can also do this from the Connections tab of the operation profile.
3

Set the relationship type for the operation you started from

On the left side of the modal, choose what this operation is in the relationship—for example, Dealer.
4

Search for the operation to connect to

On the right side, search by name, address, or operation ID, then click the result you want. Search covers operations saved to your organization.
5

Set the relationship type for the second operation

Choose the second operation’s role—following the example above, Customer. Both roles are required so the connection reads correctly from either profile.
6

Connect

Click Connect Operations. The connection now appears on both operations.

Viewing and managing connections

The Connected Operations panel on the map shows the four most recently updated connections. Click View All to open the Connections tab of the operation profile, which lists every connection with the related operation’s address and role, paginated.
From the operation panel, turn on the Connected Operations highlight. CamoAg plots each connected operation at its address and zooms to fit them all—useful for seeing how far a dealer’s customer base reaches. Click any highlighted point to jump to that operation.
On the Connections tab, click the three vertical dots (⋮) on the connection card and select Delete Connection, then confirm. Deleting a connection removes the relationship only—both operations stay intact, which is the main practical difference from merging.
An operation can’t be connected to itself, and the same pair can’t be connected twice with the same roles. If you need to change how two operations relate, delete the existing connection and create it again with the roles you want.
