# Operations

> Open a farm operation in the app to see crops, contacts, connected operations, owned parcels, tags, and notes.

An operation is the farming business behind the ground — the entity you're
actually calling on. The operation detail sheet pulls together who to talk to,
what they grow, what they own, and what your team has written down.

## Opening an operation

* Tap an operation pin or highlighted ground on the map.
* Search for it by name from the search bar on the main control sheet.
* Open it from a contact, farm, or parcel it's connected to.
* In CarPlay, use **Explore → Operations** for the ones nearest you.

## What's on the detail sheet

    The operation name, its category, and a source badge showing whether it came
    from **CamoAg** or **My Org**. Alongside it: **Owned Acres**, **Operated
    Acres**, and the primary address with a directions button.

  <Accordion title="Crops" icon="wheat-awn">
    A proportional bar of what's grown across the operation's owned ground,
    broken out into crop pills sorted by acres.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Deep Research Report" icon="magnifying-glass-chart">
    Available to organizations with deep research enabled — a generated research
    report on the operation, opened from the detail sheet.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Contacts" icon="address-book">
    The contacts tied to the operation, with the option to add a new one
    pre-filled from the operation's name and address.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Connected Operations" icon="diagram-project">
    Other operations linked to this one. With the right permission you can
    connect additional operations from here.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Highlight Owned Parcels" icon="draw-polygon">
    Draws every parcel the operation owns on the map behind the sheet. Tap again
    to hide them; a recenter button appears while they're shown so you can zoom
    the map back to the full set.

  <Accordion title="Tags" icon="tag">
    The tags applied to the operation, and a way to manage them. See
    [Manage Tags](/account-settings/manage-tags).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Notes" icon="note-sticky">
    Every note filed against this operation, and a way to add one. See
    [Notes](/ios/notes).

## Saved vs. unsaved operations

CamoAg ships operations built from public and licensed data. Those are read-only
until you claim them.

  <Step title="Tap Save to Edit">
    On an unsaved operation, **Save to Edit** copies it into your organization.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Edit and connect">
    Once saved, you can edit the operation, connect it to other operations, tag
    it, and file notes against it.

In CarPlay the same action appears as the **Save** button on the operation card.

## More actions

The **⋯** menu on a saved operation offers **Edit Operation**, **Merge with
another Operation**, and **Share Operation**. Unsaved operations show a share
button instead.
