# CamoAg Terms to Know

### **CamoAg Platform Glossary**

This glossary defines terms used throughout the CamoAg platform. Some terms are standard in the agricultural industry; where applicable, definitions clarify how CamoAg applies them.

**Farm**\
A property added to a user's account. CamoAg uses "farm" and "property" interchangeably. A farm consists of one or more parcels and fields.

**Parcel**\
The legal boundary of a property, as determined by the county assessor's office. The farm/property page displays each parcel's gross (county/deeded) acreage based on this boundary.

**Field**\
A subdivision of a parcel that allows users to identify land use type (e.g., timber, farmland, CRP, creek) without altering the parcel boundary. The property page displays tillable acreage at the field level. Soil maps in CamoAg are generated from the tillable acreage assigned to a field.

**County Acres**\
The acreage of a property as recorded by the county assessor. CamoAg uses county acres to display the gross acreage of a parcel.

**Calculated Acres**\
The acreage of a parcel shape as provided by CamoAg's data provider. CamoAg displays calculated acres alongside county acres so users can identify discrepancies between deeded acreage and the mapped parcel shape.

**Common Land Unit (CLU)**\
The smallest contiguous unit of land defined by the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), characterized by permanent boundaries, consistent land cover, and a single owner or producer. The FSA and USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) use CLUs as the foundational mapping unit for administering farm commodity programs, conservation initiatives, and crop insurance. The FSA last released CLU data in 2008.

**Comparative Market Analysis (CMA)**\
A compiled list of comparable property sales, typically used by land brokers or appraisers to advise clients. Users can also create a CMA to document sales data shared with a customer in response to an inquiry, for internal recordkeeping. Users can choose whether to share a CMA with others.

**Operation**\
A record representing a real-world agricultural business entity — such as a producer, bank, or ag retailer — that consolidates related land, personnel, financial activity, and connections to other operations into a single view. An operation serves as the central reference point for all information CamoAg holds on a given business, eliminating the need to compile data from separate searches.

**Producer**\
A general term for a farmer or rancher. CamoAg uses "producer" and "operator" interchangeably.

**Owned Acres**\
The total acreage owned by all entities associated with a given individual. For example, if an individual owns 2,000 acres across four separate entities, a search for that individual returns each associated entity and the combined owned acreage.

**Operated Acres**\
The estimated number of acres an operation farms.

**Portfolio**\

**Company Layer**\
A customizable map layer specific to an organization. Company layers can represent data such as sales regions, retail locations, or weather events.

**Tag**\
A free-form label that users can manually apply to supported entity types within the platform. Tags allow sales and marketing teams to classify, target, and prioritize producers and related entities using consistent, repeatable criteria across the platform.

**Deep Research**\
An AI-generated report attached to an operation, delivered as a formatted PDF. The report includes farmland holdings, estimated operation size, potential affiliates, agricultural practices, associated individuals, and verified address information
